Laura Zevan, LCSW
therapist
Asking for help can be scary as you may not know exactly what you need or how to get the help you desire. My goal, first and foremost, is to help you feel safe and valued. I believe that each person is unique with their own needs, and I will work with you to develop an individualized and person-centered treatment plan. I aim to help you navigate your difficulties by being nonjudgmental, supportive, gentle, and respectfully direct. Developing a trusting bond and relationship is of utmost importance to me as a clinician and is vital for you to make the changes you need to live a happier and fulfilling life.
I have extensive experience working with clients that suffer from chronic depression/anxiety and trauma. I am a certified brainspotting therapist which is particularly effective with trauma-based situations, helping to identify and heal underlying trauma that contributes to anxiety and depression. It allows access to both the brain and body processes. I also use additional therapeutic modalities such as strength based therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance commitment therapy and solution focused therapy. I will work with each of you to determine which therapeutic modality will be the most beneficial for your individual needs.
I received my bachelor of social work (BSW) at North Carolina State University, and my Master of Social Work (MSW) from University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I have been a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) since 2009 but have been in the helping field since 2002. My areas of interest are trauma, relational issues, depression, anxiety, ADHD, life transitions, women's issues, building self esteem, grief, and mood disorders.
